Digital technologies are fundamentally changing the shape of humanities research. If you are interested in how scholars analyze texts, maps, or visual material using digital tools today, don't miss the Digital Humanities course, newly introduced in the fall semester under the code ISKB83 under the Department of Information and Library Studies.
The course is an introduction to the dynamically developing field of Digital Humanities and offers twelve online lectures by experts in the field, who will guide students through the entire research cycle: from digitizing and extracting data, to cleaning, analyzing and visualizing it, to presenting and archiving the results. Participants will learn about the basic tools for working with textual, spatial and network data, and will have the opportunity to try them out in practice at the end of each lecture.
The main goal of the course is to support the development of digital competences and to create the background for the emergence of a new generation of digital scientists. Students will learn to use the research platforms of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University and will understand the possibilities of digital methods in humanities research.
