Topic: Identifying trade-offs between richness and balance in art systems

Access to large databases of behavioral and artistic records and recent advances in artificial intelligence assistants have spurred the scientific exploration of cultural diversity. Here, I focus on two systems under study - the game Go and the South Indian art of Kolam - with behavioral ecology tools to understand how consistent patterns of behavioral diversity are with strategic social learning processes, rates of innovation, artistic virtuosity, and the influence of new modes of social information.
