The Department of Digital Humanities at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE.DH) is organizing the 3rd edition of the conference to be held in Budapest on 23-25 November 2022 - in collaboration with DARIAH.The 1st DH_BUDAPEST conference explored the current state of research in the digital humanities in general, while the 2nd conference maintained a narrower focus on theories and practices of distance reading. This year's DH_BUDAPEST_2022 aims to explore the theme of networks and networking.
The network as a metaphor has long been a tool for conceptualizing phenomena in the humanities, but with the emerging availability of digital and digitized datasets, it has also become a tool for quantitative data analysis and visualization. Today, the concepts of network and networking are widely used in humanities-related research, ranging from the exploration of semantic structures to the circulation of ideas, people, and artifacts to patterns of institutional collaboration. Furthermore, researchers have raised new questions of self-reflection in the humanities concerning the epistemological reasons for and implications of using tools and techniques developed in the natural sciences.
CONFERENCE THEMES:
- Linking data and databases;
- Semantic networks and the use of the semantic web;
- Research groups and linkages in the digital humanities;
- Data Visualization in Scientific Research;
- Perspectives on network analysis in the humanities;
- Theoretical approaches to networks and networking.
