Charles Translator for Ukraine now available for smartphone

In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, researchers and scientists from the Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics (IFAL) of the Charles University's Faculty of Arts have developed a special translator from Czech to Ukrainian, which has been available for free since mid-March. The LINDAT/CLARIAH research infrastructure has also contributed significantly (mainly in the framework of technological support).

According to the developers, the website with the translator has received more than a quarter of a million hits in its first month alone. Later, the translator was introduced in the form of an Android app, which can be found on Google Play as Charles Translator for Ukraine.

The translator has a very simple and friendly user interface, and offers translation from English to Ukrainian and vice versa. It also has the advantage of showing the word in both Latin and Cyrillic when translating from English. The mobile version of the translator also includes a voice translator.
