Vasulka Live Archive: Videomapping
We cordially invite you to the pre-Christmas video mapping Vasulka Live Archive in public space, which takes place on the occasion of the anniversary of Woody Vasulka's death (20.12.2019). The large-format projection will present the work of Mr. and Mrs. Vasulka through the visualisation of artificial intelligence neural networks.
The video mapping will be projected on the front facade of the Brno House of Arts on 20 December at three time intervals: 18:00-18:30, 19:00-19:30, 20:00-20:30. In the video mapping, multimedia artist Jiří Mucha explores the contents of the archive of Vasulka Kitchen Brno using artificial neural networks. The videos of Steina and Woody Vašulka are deconstructed, layered and arranged side by side in a new spatial arrangement through the analytical capabilities of the networks. The outputs of the project will be made available on a website based on artificial neural networks: www.vasulkalivearchive.net.
The event also marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the famous New York-based The Kitchen (1971), after which the Vasulka Kitchen Brno, housed in the House of Arts, was named. The association cares for the legacy of the Vasulka family, manages their archive and also initiates and supports a number of creative ventures that further their legacy.
